Supporting materials
include the following:
Primer:
A genetics primer answers basic questions including,
What is a gene? Why do we have two copies of
each gene? and What is a mutation? The Genetics
Primer is available at all times on the menu
bar at the top of the screen. The primer also
centrally locates animations explaining the
single gene patterns of inheritance you are
most likely to encounter.
Pedigree symbols:
The application of genetics concepts begins
with the genetic family history, or pedigree.
Information about the creation and interpretation
of pedigrees is embedded in the case studies.
A link to common pedigree symbols is provided
in the upper right corner of all pedigrees for
easy reference.
Vocabulary:
Terms that are blue in the body of the case
studies will provide pop-up definitions when
clicked.
Clinical synopses:
Clinical synopses for each condition highlighted
in the case studies are available under the
"clinical synopses" tab on the menu
bar. These synopses include, but are not limited
to, dental manifestations.
Resource Links:
Several publications and live website links
are available in the resources and links section
for those who wish to pursue more in-depth information.
